All Souls Prospect

This grand view from the All Souls Prospect vantage point in Yoho National Park, Lake O'Hara area. I arrived just after the 1st major snow of the year, so there was still some snow around to give texture to the rocky areas. 5 horizontal images were stitched for the panorama. A single exposure for each of the stitched images.

5DII, 16-35, ISO 100

Whoa. Incredible scene. And perfect control of the dynamic range. Can't think of a thing to change.

Wow! I have been to that area and it is incredible. I didn't have any fresh snow on the mountains when I was there though. The fresh dusting of snow on the peaks really puts this over the top. Awesome!

There's a lot going on here. I live it, maybe I'm bothered by the left hand foreground but it's a minor niggle.

Wonderful clarity and details in the large version Harry and a great job handling the Dynamic Range. A beautiful view and great processing. Well done.

What a scene, Harry. Dynamic range is spot on for a single exposure. Love the turquoise blue of the lake and the dappled light. Beautiful :toast:

Thanks for your impressions.

Andrew, I agree and I'm not sure if there is anything that would help the FG other than some lighting- back or side to help differentiate it from the background a bit. With so many rocks and textures withing the grass and such, it does become a bit of a jumble. That is why I think the snow helps the right so much - helps simplify things, especially with the complex background. I may try a cooler white balance in the FG to help differentiate it from the wam lighting of the backgorund. We'll see. Thanks

This image, as with your others, is exceptional primarily because of your ability to handle dynamic range and lighting; especially lighting. Perhaps you should exchange the "c" in your surname to a "g"? (or has someone already suggested that?)

A majestic view Harry with beautiful depth,

What i really enjoy about this capture, is how the image transplants the viewer to the mountains. You can feel the mountain air on your face. All the technicals look good, and I could really soak this one in.

Jim - No, no one has ever suggested that but maybe it would be easier to pronounce

A pretty amazing vista, Harry! Good choice to do the multiple photo stitch. You can capture a much bigger scene that way plus have lots more resolution for bigger prints. The large version is much nicer because it has a lot more presence. It would be really great even larger yet (a real problem when displaying panoramas at limited resolutions). The cyan and magenta seem to be a little strong in the foreground, probably because the light was a little weak in that area but overall an excellent image!
