Why they come.....

I posted a Zabriskie point photo in Death valley in the predawn night sky to avoid the crowds.
I did stay for daybreak.
This is why the crowds show up for sunrise.....

This is really nice Dan. Love the light, layers of color and tone. I have been there, but could never get up that early! I wonder if it could use a slight CCW rotation.

It's amazing how bluish that gravel wash looks. I've been there and it actually looks that way. It wonderfully offsets the surrounding yellow.

I would do something with Manley Point(?). It's the brightest part of the image but lacks the definition that the rest has. It's also merging with the background. Perhaps there is a way of darkening it some way. My 2 centavos.

Real nice take on Z Point. Worth fighting the masses. I hope you sharpened your elbows before you headed there.

Dan:

Very nice, I do see why people would like to go to Zabriskie point. The only thing I see as distracting is the merging of values of the illuminated spire on the right with the distant hills.

These are some amazing colors, Dan, especially the pastels in the foreground. Your framing, with the wash coming in from the llc works very well.

Amazing color palette. Really nicely captured. I might try darkening the mid tones of the sunlit areas on the right to bring in a little more contrast there.

This is a sweet view Dan,

I am impressed to how many different color varieties there are in the hills, and man they are great. You framed this one great too, and the light is gorgeous. This is very well seen and captured!

An impressive vista with beautiful pastel color tones, Dan! I like the leading diagonal line of the valley. The saturation seems just a bit strong, especially in the larger image.
