Sunbathing
by Gary Minish
These Trumpeter Swan cygnets were sunbathing by the river in the late warm sun that was streaming through the trees. The banks of the river were surrounded by tall grass and brush so I had to get as close as I could by working my way toward them one slow step at a time. Even then, the only way I could get a shot was by holding the camera as high as possible over my head. Good thing the camera has a tilting display! There was still some grasses in the way and I couldn't clear the rear end of the swan in the lower right corner so it won't win any prizes but I liked the behavior of the one swan as it stretched out to get the most out of the retreating sunlight.
