Misty Meadow Morning

A misty morning on Leidig Meadow in Yosemite Valley.

I looked at a few different compositions that included the tree that is decked out in Autumn color, but finally decided to center that tree and use the leafless Cottonwoods for symmetrical balance.

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor DX 18-140 @ 100mm
TK's Masks

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

Excellent thought and execution on this delicate scene, Preston. The fog or mist along with the dark evergreens seems to add nicely to the idea of framing and or bracketing this scene.

Really nice, Preston. Love the symmetry and the fog. I also like a crop from the bottom to the line of taller grasses. Excellent as presented.

Preston, This is so nice! and I think your comp worked out great. I like the fine detail of the bare branches against the dark pines of the background. The layer of fog / mist over the meadow looks fantastic and creates a wonderful mood. Very nice work!

The trees against that dark background are magnificent. And the color contrast of those leaves against that very dark green background takes it to another level.

I am less fond of the fog and lighter foreground. To me the light foreground doesn't balance well against the rest of the image. The half light and half dark composition doesn't work well for me. I would like to see that foreground darker with more definition.

Lots of interesting elements so the centered composition doesn't feel static. Wonderful detail in the larger version. The greens of the background trees seems a little weak.

I like the symmetry in the composition. And of course that mist is just lovely.

Beautiful, Preston! Great scene and excellent mood. I might be include to crop a little off the bottom, but looks great as presented too.

This is an amazing image. I love all the contrasts in this image. The layer of fog adds a lot to the scene.

Preston, I like the mist, the gentle colors in the meadow and the emphasis on the tree in the center. I feel like the balance is a bit off because the tree on the left with a touch of color pulls my eyes. I think a crop from the right helps or maybe a touch of desaturation of that tree on the left.

The mood is the first aspect of the image that grabs at me. The fog really elevates this image, and the details and contrasts of the bare trees against the conifers are beautiful.

Excellent work with this capture :toast:

Nice. I am a sucker for foggy meadows…esp when you have a b/g with a contrast like the two layers of trees. Well done!

This is beautiful Preston, I love symmetry. I can feel the chill of the low hanging mist and the mood it generates.

Gary.
