Continuing on with the story line from my last post, I offer up this as the buck that got yesterday's buck up and out of his bed. I'm sure this guy was viewed as a threat. Nothing happened though and things went back to lying around looking out for the doe. This isn't as nice an image as the last due to the rather chaotic BG which always seems to be there. But I thought it worthy enough to round out the story started yesterday. Notice on his left rear leg towards the bottom there is an area that looks black and orange. This isn't a wound but is a result of the buck urinating down his legs to create a nice powerful perfume. When you're downwind from one of these guys it smells like you're in a barn yard. Interestingly, not all bucks do it or some do it way more that others. Two more bucks to go in this series. For this one, I cropped it about 50% to reduce the amount of confusing BG. I warmed it up a little, added saturation to get the greens as they were, added contrast and some clarity. That's it. Your comments and critiques are most welcome and appreciated.

Nice light on this one Peter. The brush is a minor nit. Believe me, I struggle trying to get a clean shot of the deer in Texas. Thanks for sharing.

Good one Peter! IMHO the BG is busy, but I do not find it a distraction. The buck is in an action pose which I think draws your attention right to it. Thanks for sharing.

I like how you keep us "in" the story. The explanations of rut behavior and details such as the urinating on scent glands does much to enhance the story, too.
