Going back to the bristlecone theme for this WC... one of the fantastic things about the old dead and dying trees is how hard the wood is to the touch. That allows for the harsh weather to sculpt them into sharp edged objects that one wouldn't expect from wood. Seen here against threatening skies that ultimately died away with no drama.

Canon T1i, f/18, 1/100 sec, ISO-200, 43mm, tripod.

Hi Dave,

Your image caught my eye--nice saturated colors, texture, and warm yellow browns with dark gray sky produce some eye candy :toast: . I like the placement of the dark knot in the L RC.......................Jim :toast:

Way cool look at this snag, Dave, especially effective with the stormy sky.

Another excellent view of these remarkable beings. The sky is perfect. If I would make any suggestion it would be to increase the contrast between the trunk and the rocky slope, so as to make it "jump" at you.

A still yet dramatic scene, Dave. I like Alberto's idea of increasing the contrast between the wood and the rocky background. The spire lancing into that stormy sky is the best part! Nice image.

Yes Alberto, that is an unfortunate aspect of this image; i.e., the similarity in coloration and contrast between the wood and the rocks beyond. I made a quick attempt at trying to get some separation between those elements but it gets a bit unrealistic if I push it far enough to meaningfully address the similarity.
