One of my favorite paddling trips each summer is to visit Enders Island in Mystic, CT, home of St. Edmund's Retreat and one of the most beautiful gardens along the shoreline. This dahlia is in one of the six dahlia gardens on the island.
Powershot SX700, fixed lens at 27mm equivalent, HH, ISO 100, f/3.2, 1/250; a little sharpening done in post-processing. Comments and suggestions always welcome and thanks for viewing.

Beautiful texture on the flower and excellent colors - realistic yet bright! Nicely done! :toast:

Beautiful rendition of an amazing flower, Jim. You've really handled the semi-harsh and dappled light throughout very well.

That's a very striking flower, Jim. It really pops against the green foliage behind it. Interestingly, compression is hurting some of the highlights in the flower. They look blown in the smaller version, but open up nicely in the larger version. This is a fine example of a high quality image with limited equipment.

Nothing like a big, bold and dazzling dahlia. Nicely captured notwithstanding the strong light, Jim.
