From the Canadian Rockies, this is a stitch of two horizontal frames for focus and area. The bottom frame was shot with the camera on ice. The largest bubbles are 1cm in diameter. The bottom ones are beyond the focusing range of my lens; I could have warped or cropped them out but decided that the slight softness transitioning to clarity provided a good visual flow through to the peaks.

What a lovely composition. I think this will look beautiful in BW. I do find the close FG bit distracting due to OOF on larger version.

These bubbles are fascinating. You could emphasize them more by cropping out the sky to just above the mountains. But this interpretation works well also.

Nice work.

The bubbles are the star attraction. I wouldn't crop from the bottom.

I like the shot as is. Would more focus acuity help the lower bubbles, oh sure. But, they're so damn interesting, it would be a pity not including them all.

Hi,

The slightly out of focus bubbles in the fg are a slight distraction, but I can live with them in the shot. The nice saturated colors are very choice...............Jim

What an unusual and unique scene...lovely blue sky and reflection. The lack of focus in the near range works fine for me, but I do think a slight crop of the top portion might help the comp by raising the shoreline to a level that would make the image feel less static. Just my personal taste - the photograph is beautiful as-is.

I really like the compositio, Kah Kit. The bubbles and the muted reflection work very well. Some haloing along the peaks, but not a big deal. I also think this would make a super b/w.

I like this as it is. A very interesting view and I love the bubbles in ice. The blue tones in this are beautiful. I'm sure I would like it with the foreground bubbles a little sharper but you already explained that and this still works great for me.

With repetitive objects like these bubbles, a little softness is not an issue and including them serves the overall comp very well. Pretty darn nice shot - your photos are an inspiration!

Im a sucker for bubbles so there's that. Love the light and space. Still figuring out how you pulled this off or you just kept camera low then panned up? Nice work as always.

Stunning image Kah Kit. The lack of sharpness in the bottom bubbles is barely noticed as the bubbles quickly take the viewer to the reflection and warm glow of the mountain.

Great image - I agree that the soft bubbles are not a problem. The stitching is perfect - I cant' tell where it is, even in the large photo. And the colors are gorgeous.

This looks great as-is. Sure, I'd like the closest bubbles more in focus, but this works. The blues look wonderful, and I love the mountains and the sky.

I'm not always a fan of symmetrical images but it is a real plus here, KK. So perfectly balanced left to right and front to back. No nits from me at all.

Very interesting and fascinating photo, the light on the upper right mountain really make this photo complete. Not bothered by the things you mentioned, just outstanding!

Wonderful image! The icy reflection, sliver of light on the peaks, great sky, and fascinating ice bubbles are all great elements. The soft foreground bubbles are noticeable but don't detract significantly from this great image. :toast:

Aaron, I shot the first frame with the camera on the ice then titled upwards for the mountains and the sky.

Wonderful comp…and the bubbles at only 1 cm when they look like pancakes or silver dollars shows your skill to really leverages their addition to impact the photo. Well done!

Very attractive and saleabe looking image. I'd probably prefer the foreground bubbles pin sharp too but I certainly don't think its a deal breaker. Good calendar style image with room to crop to shape if desired.

This works incredibly well for me Kah. The bubbles are the star in this image, and they are such a fascinating phenomenon. The blue tones are beautiful, and the mountain backdrop and clouds finish off this image nicely. I think you could almost make an image capturing the bubbles in the ice all by themselves.

Wonderful image :toast:

i like this as it is. the colours work well and i don't mind the slightly soft bubbles in the FG. There does appear to be a slight - ever so slight - imbalance as if you cropped something off the right?
