My brother and I love photographing steam trains. I took this photo several years ago and although I like the original image pretty well (on page 3 of my Gallery), I think I like this photo art version better.

Nice painterly look, Carol. I've noticed other images using that particular filter and usually enjoy the results.

Outstanding, Carol. I think this would have a lot of appeal at art shows, etc. Love the balanced, well-timed comp, and the image has many nice elements like the light on the train, the curving track, the red sumac, and the brick wall and light on the light. Beautifully crafted image. :toast:

Gorgeous process, Carol - a bit in the style of late nineteenth century English landscape painters? And the steam train is perfect in that setting. I truly like it! :toast:

This has a nice painterly feel to it. It looks as if the filter was applied to the foliage and brick wall as the train and tracks look pretty sharp. I like the contrast.

Hi Carol,

I really like this. The train/tracks, to the stone wall, to the foliage, the fact it's coming over a wooden bridge all compliment one another and the composition is spot-on. There is a small bright white spot (sky?) upper-right that could probably be cloned, but this is such a sweet image, that is a minor observation. The filter and subject matter suit each other perfectly here! Thanks for sharing :toast:

Carol, this is a great look at this steam train. The simplify treatment is subtle enough that even the larger version looks reasonably real (at least until I compare it with the original). I like this version much better mostly because of how the colors in the leaves pop.
