Vole, To Go

From one of my more memorable encounters of the year. We had a good time watching this great blue heron complete a successful hunt in BC last winter. After it nabbed the vole, it carefully walked across the ice with its (wriggling) meal.

Excellent detail. Would have liked to see a larger version.

Wonderful shot, Max. Terrific detail in the bird, excellent exposure and a great capture of the bird gingerly walking with its prize. Wish you'd given us a larger version so I could see the whites in the head a little more clearly. They are bright, but I can't tell if they are blown.

First rate. :toast:

Really cool shot Max! He certainly looks like he was doing a slow shuffle so he didn't slip. I like the comp and the reflection in the BG but I would consider cloning some of the white oof spots from the ice. Particularly the one below the vole, it draws your eye. Would've liked to see a larger image but the details look great in this one. Well done! :toast:

Max,
This is a sweet shot. It is fun to see the varied diet these GBHs eat. I am enjoying your posts on FB. :toast:

Great to see the heron with something other than a fish.
Nice detail , but perhaps a little tight?
