Touch down, almost!

Yet another Bosque crane, hope everyone aren't getting tired of them. During my short visit all the midday activity for snow geese and cranes were at the fields in front of the willow deck and coyote deck. At times by late afternoon the light was magical. I like how his head and body are framed by his wings. I wish the wing feathers had a little more sharpness and detail.

Thanks for looking.

I like this a lot John, it's a little different from whats been posted from Bosque. Great color palette all around and a good look at the eye and the feet. The wing blur doesn't detract from the image IMO. The only distraction I see is what I'm assuming is a oof duck directly in front of his beak. If it were mine I would probably clone it out. Great environment shot. Well done! :toast:

Nice shot. I like the light you've got on this.
I agree with Steve about the oof duck, and I would also add the oof crane on the top right.

Nice action/environmental shot. I'd probably remove the distracting elements, particularly the duck, to really highlight the crane.

neat capture John. beautifully exposed and a great pose.
one small niggle for me is the out of focus bird in the top RH corner and the legs of another at centre top. I think cloning these out would remove distractions.

With these guys, it's all about the wings IMHO. The wing position you managed to capture is great. The background birds are a bit of a distraction, but not a deal breaker for me. Well done.

Thanks for the great comments guys, goes to show you how valuable this site is. My eye was so focused on the subject I didn't even notice the duck right in front of the subject. Here is a repost with it cloned out and also the one above, I left the OOF crane in. Thanks again!

Excellent job John! The oof crane in the corner does not bother me at all. Sweet image. :toast:

You've captured a memorable wing position in this shot John. I love the repost with the duck removed. I also like that you kept in the OOF crane. I too wish that there was a little bit more feather detail but the composition and the wing position of the crane just rules. Nice job!
