Through the Window Pane

I was in my bank in Columbia this morning and noticed the blurred view due to the flow in the old window glass. I asked one of the ladies who works there to hold my bank card against the glass so that I could ensure I was focusing on the glass.

This is definitely out of my usual box, but I really liked the effect. This is basically straight out of the camera. The only adjustments were to the curve for black point and contrast, and Hue/Saturation to drop the cyan quite a bit.

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor DX 16-85 @ 85mm
1/2 s at F-8, ISO 100
Cropped a tiny bit from the top

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

This is really cool, had you not said this was straight out of the camera I would of swore you applied one of the artistic filters found in so many software products. Way to go seeing this potential in the window. :toast:

Isn't nice to be able to create an image in the camera rather than through manipulation filters in Photoshop? Very creative Preston and way to go on breaking out of your normal box.

Ahhh, rain on windows. That pair can create some fascinating abstracts and this shows why/how very well. Very well seen, Preston.

Mark, the distortion is not due to rain. The glass in these windows dates from the 1850's and has 'flowed' over the years.

I appreciate all the comments!

This is a fun image. Something that just pops up and adds a little variety and fun to our photography. Good job.
