I believe that this the first time I have ever seen the "spurs"on this species. Taken in Lagoon area of Kwando concession, Northern Botswana.

What an interesting bird, obviously one I've never seen. The spurs looks kinda wicked... Certainly piques my curiosity about what they are for; the color of its face would seem to send a message to stay away. Very well captured, Ken.

Not familiar with this species. Can they fly? The wings look very small compared to the body. The image looks good. There is good detail in the feathers. The background shows off the bird well and the perch/branches frame the bird well. I would selectively try to bring out some additional details in the feet. Other than that, I don't have any other suggestions.

Another cool bird Ken! Never seen one...I'm curious, what are the spurs for? Maybe a defense tool? Details in the bird are sharp, nice look at the spurs.

Nice techs here Ken. I am also not familiar with this species, so can't speak to the spurs. Good framing with he branches and I think it works well, but still wondering how it might look if you cloned out the top right branch? Either way I think it's fine, just wondering what a side by side would look like.

Thanks everybody for your comments, they are much appreciated
I have no idea what the spurs are for, some suspect they are used in male to male fighting.
They can fly bit not too well and are generally only found in trees either early or late, or when there is a predator about when they give out there warning call,.
