Dealing with snow and sub-zero/single digit temps, I decided to go back and post this image of a dahlia close-up taken last August. Shot in early morning backlit sun, I boosted the contrast, and did some selective burning and dodging, to simulate the look of a nice fire. I may have to print this and hang it on the wall to generate some heat around here! Dahlia, Fellows Riverside Gardens, D600, 150 macro, f5.0, 1/200, iso 200. Thanks for looking. Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome. :wavey:

This sure warms you up... and we really need it here in CT. Lovely perspective and the feel of a fireplace with the extra realism of the flower in the flames. I would have gone the extra mile in photo art and enhanced the fire effect using digital software. Try it, it is fun.

Ha, that's a fitting title! The contrast you added really makes this look like flames. Very interesting take on this subject.

I like the way the flames "dissolve" into the background like heat waves. very nice

I would hang this on my wall whatever the temperature, Scott ! Brilliant use of the backlighting to create an image which is both flower and flames.
