Red Mukluks!

When I saw this bee, I loved the red color of the pollen. It looked like, he was sporting thick mukluks on his skinny legs. It was such a delightful surprise to see red  suddenly appear against all this wonderful yellow.

I love the the way the black bee (with its red accent) is surrounded by the frame filling yellow, Lucy. The yellow/green bg is especially nice, I also agree about the unusual red pollen sacs. I never seen red pollen sacs before. Overall, a happy, delightful image. :toast:

Really eye-catching colors, Lucy. Nicely captured. I like the inclusion of the green on the right, but I think this might be a stronger composition without it, because it seems a little unbalanced with so much vegetation on the left side.

This was taken near Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco. These yellow lupine live scattered all over the beach. It was cool seeing these large yellow relatives of our little bluebonnets! Maybe one of you living near there have seen pollen bags this color, but I never have.

Nice catch on something that I've never seen either (red pollen). In the larger version, that pollen looks pretty smooth and shiny, which has me wondering if it's some other than pollen....That red bit sure lets the bee stand out in that frame full of yellow.

I "googled" colored pollen on bees and got this link- http://www.ask.com/wiki/Pollen_source?o=2801&qsrc=999&ad=doubleDown&an=apn&ap=ask.com

Yes, bees can have red pollen, orange, yellow, brown, and even blue! Just depends on the flower. There's a list of flowers by season/month, listing the color of the pollen on the bee. Very cool, huh!?! :toast: Check it out!
