Hi John:

I really like the color palette in this. The color of the ice, background reeds and the rail all work very nicely together. Nice textures as well. The only thing I'd look at is removing the brighter twig/reed in the lower left corner. Very nice image.

This image has an oil painting look to it. Really nice color palette and a nice catch with an unobstructed view of the rail.

Hi John,

Those rails are an interesting group of birds  .The textures of the ice and vegetation, plus super sharp rail remind me of a diorama. Colors and composition are fantastic......Jim

This is epic! Great detail in the rail. I don't find the reed in the bottom left corner very distracting, I actually didn't even notice it until Keith pointed it out. My eyes stay mostly focused on the bird and the ice. I really like the colours in this one.

I also like the color palette of this John and to top it off an elusive bird. I have only seen one of these and it gave me 2 seconds to point and sort of get an image before he was gone. SO I think this is exceptional. Great job at 1/90 as well.

You did it again! There is no doubt in my mind that you have found a very cooperative Water Rail. The tonality is wonderful, together with that hint of movement, walking on ice.
Had Thomas Gainsborough attempted a Water Rail portrait, I’m sure this would have been a perfect setting.

Photo looks surreal. At first I thought it was over-sharpened a bit or the subject was lassoed and placed in another photo. Light looks artificial. Very interesting shot. I like it.
