Another early morning Smoky Mountain stream. It was really dark for this one, hence the 30s exposure. Processed using Lightroom 5. Comments and critiques welcome.

That's a very nice intimate scene, lovely! I think I would add some contrast though, feels a bit flat.

Jerry, I like the view, the long shutter speed, and how the stream angles through the frame. I'm bothered by the murky water, was this shortly after a rain? My feeling of murky water may be related to Roel's comment about wanting more contrast.

It was indeed right after a rain. In fact, it was actually raining off and on during the shoot.

I like the curve of the river and the tree roots that follow the shoreline. I see some nice boulders under the surface of the river. Did you happen to get one using a polarizer? It probably would had made the exposure but you could always open up the aperture.

Hi Jerry:

Nice image, especially in the larger version. Great near far composition. Perhaps the tree on the right is a bit low as to the composition, but we have to work with what is there. Not sure if a lower viewpoint would have worked with the near plants, which add a lot to the image. My preferences lean toward a somewhat purist form of dealing with found subjects as they are and not cloning out awkward items etc.

Nice verdant feel, the light areas in the back lead the eye nicely!

The tree foliage looks a little flat Jerry. Maybe a bit more contrast would give it the pop of spring greens. Like the gentle flow of the river and the slow exposure on the water.

HI Jerry,

I am amazed how absolutely still all the elements were for in this capture. This a cozy little image with lots of good elements included. The image has a nice and easy flow to it that leads the eye from the rocks and vegetation, to the nicely textured water and exposed tree roots, and ends with nice light in the background.

Nice work on this image, and I can see where a bump in contrast could bring this already nice image to life even more.

I'm feeling like this comp might have been better without any foreground rocks/vegetation... or quite a bit more if you could find something of interest up close. Really, really like the top two-thirds and the mood created there.
