Falls, Arthur's Pass, South Island NZ.
Hassel-bad 500CM, 40 mm Distagon, CRV 50, Digichrome. Nice little wind through here blowing the water to the right.

Nice composition. My favorite part is the tree branch in the left center.

almost magical feeling, very peaceful, the rocks in the lower right grab my attention but not sure how the scene would look with them cropped out.

This comp is terrific. That tree’s branching pattern and space separating it from the b/g is sweet! A couple nits...the water seems to be falling not precisely vertical…a bit strong purple or blues in water. I might also darken that stuff in lrc. Nice shot with a load to like in the lace-like water and striking tree.

Interesting how the wind blows the water to the right.
Nice tree on the left adds to the comp.
I might tone down the bright spot on the lower right.

Yes, the wind is blowing the water to the right. I love these trees in New Zealand, have a certain Japanese watercolor aspect to them. These falls are near Aurthur Pass and the pass funnels a lot of wind through the area. The worst part about such places is a very restricted viewpoint available. This is in the early Fall and as such may have a restricted flow, wonder what it looks like with Spring snow melt! Spray blowing about was an issue camera and lens wise. Lovely side trip, recommend it!

Yep, my favorite is also the cool trees. Very nice, Tom. I think I would tame the bright spot bottom center and perhaps darken the bottom right rocks.

Gorgeous! Absolutely love that tree! Two small nits, it seems a bit tilted, and the waterfall part is a bit too purple. Otherwise it's really nice.
Btw, there is a dust bunny at the top of the falls.... Remarkable how easy it is to overlook those!

Tom: Marvelous comp that lets my eye explore all over the frame. There is a noticeable blue cast to the water and I think I like the image with a slightly warmer balance. I think I might put this place on my bucket list. >=))>

Yes a dust bunny, actually two that I had not cleaned up in the JPEG. Indeed cool light in the shade, however I think that the coolness in the waterfall is picking up the dark colors in the rock behind as the flow is not strong. If you do get to NZ I do recommend this as a side trip for an hour or two, bit of a hoof uphill but as typical with. NZ, a good trail. Thanks for the comments, all of which will be considered, probably doing a fair sized print for a friends cottage with this one.
Thanks again.... T

Hi Tom,
This image is wicked good composition, and makes me feel alive and vibrant. The only suggestion I have is to tame the bright branch in the lrc.The tree limb extending out wanted to be in a picture, I can just tell that photographic limb was speaking to you.
Beautiful work

Ha, Tom, I knew exactly where this was the second I saw that little tree in front of the falls. I was there two years ago and have a shot from the same spot with the same tree. Well worth the walk for sure.
I know why you included them but the two bright areas on the bottom edge are a distraction. Maybe some cloning from the adjacent vegetation could eliminate the center spot which I find to be the bigger offender for some reason.
