As an oldtimey Valley Climber I always have enjoyed the views of the walls through the Oaks and pines of the meadows. Maybe my climber bias, I like a little more wall and a little less meadow. Great place to explore with a camera, so many possibilities!

Lovely fall color image. I like the way that the longer focal length compresses the scene and juxtaposes the trees against the massive granite peak.

I think I know this spot. Probably have these trees in some of my other comps that show a bigger view. Most definitely my favorite area of the meadow. Looks like you guys had some nice color in the trees by the time you arrived. Nice!

Oh man, this is stunning, makes me long for autumn. But then again, I'm always longing for autumn. I think I would have liked to see a bit more of the small tree to the left, but that's only a minor nit. This is great as is!

The gentle warmth of the fall colors in both the oaks and the meadow stand out well here, Preston. In spit of your saying that it was a frosty morning, this looks warm and inviting. There's a pretty amazing difference in brightness when viewing the larger version that really lets the colors there sing and for me lets the foreground meadow play a much stronger role. In the smaller version, I was thinking that a crop to just below the young pine would help focus on the trees, but that's much less needed in the larger version as the added glow of the oaks lets them dominate the image.

Preston: Spectacular detail in the large version and a wonderful color palette. I go back and forth on the partial oak on the right edge. Sometimes it pulls my eye and then again I like it as an anchor over there and as a frame for the pines. Regardless, this is a wonderful scene superbly captured and presented. >=))>

I am on the fence about the comp on this one. It feels a bit tight on the sides to me. Otherwise, great elements, with the distant tree in the back of the meadow on the left, the foreground grasses and the dead limb.

Good day Preston,
I really enjoy what you have come up with in this capture. The different colors in the fg grasses lead up to the beautiful oak trees, and the their is a nice depth created by the coniferous trees. The large version is full of wonderful details and beauty Preston. Good stuff here,

very good chromatic management (coniugated, almost the same thing with the clear composition).
Pleasurable and well managed.
all the best,
