Mountain at Sea

Another shot from the same day session as the previous. The wind and waves were going in opposite directions as they wrapped around Montauk Point, causing waves to crash into each other and forming these big peaks

Pretty cool, Luke -- the thumbnail really does look like a mountain peak. B&W conversion looks very effective for this image, giving it a classic look.

It's obviously a dramatic-looking sight, and one that seems to this landlubber as hard to comprehend, with all the comparatively flat water around this one peak. I guess the one thing that would make it more exciting for me might be something to give it more of a sense of scale. Not suggesting you get out the kayak and take a selfie, though ;^)

It appear to be a massive sea creature about to break the surface of the sea. Love it.

It does look like a mountain with clouds hanging around. Well seen and done.

Weird, I was absolutely sure this was a whale taking some fresh air.... Interesting phenomenon!

It certainly does look like a mountain rising out of the sea. The sea spray really adds a lot of drama.

Beautiful and unusual capture Luke. Must have been pretty rough out there. I am getting seasick just looking at it!

That's really cool. I thought it was a mountain in the thumbnail image  That spray looks great.

Beautiful shot Luke. I've sailed out in that area, and while I've seen large seas, never saw one that kind of formed by itself like this. Great capture!

Sweet shot Luke, and the sea spray makes this image. I like your decision to crop this down so the concentration is on the sea wave and the spray.
Good stuff here in this capture for sure.
