This is for Phil, since he asked to see the Crocus at f4. But I hope you all enjoy. Kind of an "interesting" plane of focus through this image. I wish you'd tell what you think of it, or if you even notice it, for the good or the worse. All comments appreciated, of course.
Thanks.

D750, 100mm micro, circ.pol., handheld; f4.5, 1/640, ISO 320. (This group was in brighter light.) Ps 5.5, NIK Viveza.

I prefer this version, Catherine, not because of the shallower dof/pof, but because this version does not have a large oof petal dead center. The oof petal in this one is in the lrc, with the pof perfectly placed in the right, lower focal point. As a very minor nit, I do wish the yellow center was not in the lrc. Both are excellent, but I give a slight edge to this one.

Our temp here is currently -1, and we are going down to -15 tonight. Nice to see your crocus images, though. Spring will be here in just 2 months. :frown:

This works really well for me Catherine. The sharp focus of the center of that second crocus stands out perfectly. Excellent plane of focus in the image. I really like it!

I definitely give the edge to this one, I will echo Nathan's critique and add that Spring was here. Then it left! :frown:

I really like your ocus work in this image, Catherine. Very different from the previous one, hard to choose, but I think I'd choose this one!

Catherine: Most excellent. I like your POF/DOF choice here and I'm still enamored with the color palette. Also, good call on the CPL which I think is a much underutilized tool for Flora photography. Keep 'em coming! >=))>

I like the composition and softer color palette of this image. At temps in the minus column a glimpse of spring is surely welcome. Send some hope of spring to the East Coast.

Beautiful image Catherine! I totally agree with the others about the point of focus and depth, and the soft colors. Also excellent lighting.

This is really lovely, Catherine - a full blooded take with a very attractive, circling composition. I think your dof choice is just right too.
