We have a magnolia like this in our garden but this particular tree up the street always blooms several weeks before ours every spring. It is full of flowers right now while everything else is still pretty bare. Had a lot of wind to deal with so I gave up on trying to time a respite and just turned on the motor drive and hoped for the best. 12 frames per second is a good thing . Beauty in sharp focus. If it were mine I would crop up from bottom and off the right to where the background doesn't show in either place. Can't wait for mine to bloom, but with the weather today that seems like a long way off!

Hope you didn't have the freeze we did. Two days of sub-freezing weather has killed every Japanese Magnolia blossom in town! That narrow DOF on the Min 200 did well by you as well! Good clean petals with a nice touch of purple really make the wiggly things pop!

Beauty, Bill. I like the rich color and detail in the center.

Nice lines, great soft colors, and interesting detail and sharpness from the center, Bill. Excellent!

I don't think the soft qualities of the magnolia petals could have been captured better, Bill. Nice focus on the centre and a lovely composition. Beautiful image !!

Bill,

I like the image as is. The dark colors lead the eye to the anthers and pistil structures of the flower :toast: .....................Jim

The sharpness of the center is splendid; for my eyes in comparison the rest of the photo seems a bit too soft. A generous crop from up and right sites may give more dominance to the beautiful sharper area?. Only for experimenting, Bill.
