Yes, I know, a bit later than Catherine's but out somewhat before the other varieties here. I thought about cloning the odd stray leaf but felt they were very much part of the scene.

Ian: I am so envious of you folks with crocus :frown:. They have defeated all our efforts but at least I have you and Catherine to brighten my day . These are beautiful and the leaves don't bother me a bit. My only compositional suggestion would be a slight POV shift to the right clipping the petals on the left a bit more and giving the center details on the right a bit more room. Marvelous as is though. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

How nice to have spring flowers, Ian. We got 5 inches of snow followed by freezing rain on Saturday and now it's all frozen again. I sure do like this view, Ian. The overcast really lets the colors in the stamen and pistils stand out. As a minor nit, if you have it, I think a bit more space at the bottom would be nice.

Following Bill's and Mark's helpful suggestions I'm reposting an improved image I think.

And delighted to be of service, Bill, as I am sure is Catherine !!!!

Very lovely composition, Ian - and I think that the second version does work better, both on the bottom and right hand side. The soft light and focus are marvelous.

Very, very pretty Ian. I really like the focus on the front bloom. I think I would have tried to get rid of the leaves (I see two), but they are not shot killers for me. Earlier this year I tried to pick out a couple of leaves as I was taking photos and I completely plucked my subject - so it has bitten me a bit. I think I would clone out the wings of the fly (? - the dark spot on the far right bloom).

Ian, I think that the repost is perfect. The natural composition is beautiful and the focus is soft in the right place. In an image with many flowers the leaves don't disturb the eyes even if they cross some petals. I can't see any other improvement. The color of the petals are so delicate! I see favorite colors. Excellent work Ian.
