Reflections

I walked up to the water's edge of the Aucilla River and was struck by the sky's reflection on the water. I quickly set up and shot a few frames. I shot this just a few feet from my campsite last Sunday evening, a little hideaway I've been camping at for the last 25 years or so and, at least so far, have been lucky enough to have never had to share the site with another human being. I did have to share it with several wild hogs last Sunday though.

Please view LARGE version for better detail.

Comments and critiques welcomed, and thanks for looking!

Simply beautiful, Bill. For 25 years you have had this to yourself. My only question is "What's wrong with people?". Nice. As I recall this is the second view from your campsites in the recent past. Congratulations :toast:

Thanks Gary for the kind words. What's wrong with people? Nothing, provided I don't have to share my campsite with them. I'm basically anti-social, especially when it comes to going to the woods, swamps, marshes, etc. I enjoy my own company and no other.

There are very few that I would enjoy in my camp also.

I love the stillness of this image; the sharp reflection, muted colors, and simplicity add to its' serenity. I envy you the solitude.

Very sweet, Bill. I can imagine a large print of this on a wall. Very soothing.

Bill: Well seen, composed and presented. Love the simplicity of the comp and the pastels in the water. The bright spot in the ULC competes for attention a bit for me and I might be tempted to tone it down some but not eliminate it. With regard to the hogs, I hope they are not as big a problem in Florida as they are becoming in Texas. If I had hogs in my camp here I'd come home with some bacon and sausage fixins as well as images . >=))>

Beautiful, Bill. I would be tempted to either clone out or lightly clone in some detail into that bright spot. It works nicely as is, but I find that spot is a bit of jarring element in an otherwise incredibly tranquil scene. Excellent!

BTW, I am a fan of camping on my own or just with friends in the middle of nowhere. It can't be beat for enjoying a place.

Very nice work on this, Bill. I like your comp alot and really enjoy the color and wonderful mood. I agree toning down the bright spot just a little might even work better, but enjoy it much just as is.

Simple and beautiful, Bill. Was thinking it might be nice to color in the white spot a bit, but not really sure.

Wild hogs… that sounds interesting. The image is simple and elegant. It's easy to be drawn in to the reflected clouds.

Simple scene, but just a totally beautiful one, Bill. I might content aware the bright spot out, but as is works just fine too. Glad you have the solitude location to hide out at also, sounds delightful.

very clean and pleasurable. Excellent soft transitions and colours.
Only (tastes..) I find a little burned the light zone in the high/left corner.
All the best,

Yep I'm with the others on the bright spot as to whether it is a positive contributor or not. If it was a single round spot as if reflecting the sun I think I would have fewer issues with it. Other than that love the mood and simplicity. :toast:
