Young Deer Portrait

This is from St. Andrews State Park in Florida a couple of weeks ago. I originally thought this was a young doe but then I noticed the areas over the eyes and I'm wondering if they are the beginnings of antlers. I'm sure someone knows more about this than I do. Taken in late evening light.

Thanks for looking, comments & suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Nice clean head shot with good detail. Always enjoy seeing the deer, except when crossing the road.

She's a beauty, Steve, staring at you very intently. You've got some fine light on her and an excellent background.

I really like the pose, light, and background in this image. Maybe slightly over-sharpened.

Hi Steve,

Nice bit of "connection" with your subject here! I think you've framed the subject effectively here and it is certainly nicely isolated from the background. If this were mine I would consider toning down (reducing the exposure) in the background - either globally (on the background) or, possibly better yet, on the brighter parts only.

I think you're right about this being a young doe - in this image I don't see any real indications of antler buds (and certainly no indication of past ones being shed).

Cheers...

Brad

Great eye contact Steve, I think the dappled light works well in this image also. :toast:
