I lost a good friend of mine yesterday. This image of Bobber was taken when he was a lot younger with one of my first Pentax dslr's. Bobber lived to be over 13 years and he went out on his own terms. He was an exceptional working dog that loved doing carting, obedience, and water rescue exercises with my wife. The picture was taken while he was resting during a Newfoundland carting test up at Gowan, Michigan. He passed with flying colors. The picture is far from perfect, but one of my favorites. I used some luminosity masks to add some details to the shadows and highlight areas......................Jim

Picture "far from perfect": Who cares? The image and tribute to his 13 years is all we need. Dang! Must have something in my eyes.

When one has a companion and friend such as Bobber, we are not to wonder where he is buried for he is buried in your heart. Comforting thoughts are sent your way.

Thank you Jim and Sandra. Bobber was an excellent wingman. He kept both me and Jenny safe. He never let me jump off the dock and one time he grabbed me out of mid air and pulled me back onto the dock. Our other pack members are keeping us in smiles too. Diver, our now oldest surviving newf likes to steal unopened cans of cat food and he opens them in bear-like fashion. Havoc, Robbie, and Morgan provide enough Tom-Foolery to keep us in stitches. Once again thank you :wavey: ...................Jim

Hi Jim - I just saw this. Oh dear. I'm so sad for your loss...I know how Newfoundlands endear themselves to their families. I'm glad for the years you had together and all the wonderful memories and the gift of his character you and Jenny had, but I'm sure this still sucks.

Bobber was certainly a handsome Newf and has that classic kind "gentle giant" look to him. It's cool that you carted with him...we'd like to do that with ours if we can work the time and energy in!

Thinking of you and Jenny in your loss.

Thank you John. Our dogs are kept busy with carting, water rescue, obedience, and confirmation. Bobber liked to do all of these exercises and he excelled in all of them. He got me in a lot of trouble when he broke into our pond to take a swim and Jenny got home from work as I was herding wet dogs out of the pond. She had just bathed them all for a dog show and there was no place for us to hide  ........................Jim
