Glowing Humps

This is from January of this year. It is one of my local haunts called the Camel's Humps. It was an amazing evening with the Humps and surrounding sandstone taking on the colors of the sky.

I would appreciate your comments and critiques on this.

I'd love to critique, but I don't see anything wrong with this image, so you'll have to do with this lousy comment, haha. But joking aside, this is a real beauty, no nits for me!

Beautiful sky, light and patterns in the foreground. To my eye, the comp is not quite working with the middle split and the middle back rock cut off. You sure did get the light though!! Man!

A really beautiful photograph. Love the light and the color. Also the pattern in the foreground add a lot to this scene.

Gary

Great use of the wide angle to create an interesting perspective. The warm on warm works well!

Cheers. Tom

I like the low wide angle perspective very much, and the colors are marvelous. My one suggestion would be cropping a bit from the bottom, so as to bring the horizon down - I suspect that that may make the low point of view and wide angle even more dramatic. :toast:

Technically speaking it's first rate, excellent. But I just don't find it to be a compelling subject. Perhaps if I lived in Utah I could relate to it emotionally better.

Love it, Gary. The atmosphere and formations are to die for. Maybe if you shot from a bit higher position would get more of the hump on the RHS (?)

I like the teasing feel of this image. The large and interesting foreground puts me there hiking up this last (hopefully!) rise to see these interesting features and what lays beyond. For me, its an image about the journey not the destination. I like that change of pace a lot.

The textures and light are very nicely presented here. You've combined the available elements very well.

Sublime lighting and colour Gary, the glow off the sandstone rock is very attractive indeed.

Superb mix Gary! I really like that you didn't go crazy with the processing; this sings nicely as is.

This makes an excellent first impression, great impact Gary!

The "Humps and surrounding sandstone taking on the colors of the sky" describes only a small part of the story. The light & color's awesome, love the diagonal breaks at the horizon. Makes the sky seem to stream away from the rocks, the overall effect more dynamic..

I like the comp with the added FG interest, textures, patterns, and details there.
