Great Horned Owl at the Durham Fair in Durham, CT, September, 2012. Several owls were brought to the fair by a non-profit educational service called Wind Over Wings. They are dedicated to caring for magnificent birds such as this one, who are unable to survive in their natural environment and who have overcome extraordinary obstacles in their lives. Upon close inspection, I can see myself reflected in its eye.
Powershot SX-30 with a fixed zoom lens at 175mm equivalent, hand-held, ISO 400, f/4.5, 1/100, no flash. Adjusted brightness and sharpened in post. Comments and suggestions always welcome and thanks for viewing.

Looks pretty good Jim. There's a touch of blue halos on the ear tufts--not a deal breaker. Very nice details on the face and eyes......................Jim

Yes, owls have amazingly intense eyes and your image shows them off well here, Jim. Your nice tight look shows off the details both in the eyes and in the feathers very well. Getting to see hawks and owls up close in a rehab show is always a special treat.
