This yellow crocus is one of the last of this year here. I took this shot after a massive hailstorm which left the ground looking as if it were snow covered.

I like your comp. here, Ian, with the flower leaning away from the center (seems like it's saying I want out of here! ). There's enough detail in the white stuff to tell that it's hail, not snow, but that sure has me wishing for a larger version. This does seem a bit dark to me, but I can easily see that as intentional in telling the story of a flower toughing out on a not so fine day.

Ian: Wonder how this little guy survived the bombardment . Glad he did though. I kind of like the darker mood here but see Mark's point regarding making it lighter. Marvelous comp. 2 thumbs up! >=))>

Comp works really well. I would brighten it up just a bit.

I like the comp & this picture tells the story of natures ability to adapt/survive well Ian.
Great job on this!

Incredibly lucky crocus, not to have been smashed by the hail. A beautiful image of life in adversity, Ian.

Last but nice crocus Ian. I love the selective focus and the blurred foreground that makes the hailstorm look like snow.

Like the somber mood and the spot of warmth on a stormy day. Nicely done
