Yesterday I checked out a Bald Eagle Nest (there are now 3 within 20 miles of each other, when this species had been absent for nearly 80 years!) yesterday which is located across the creek from an Osprey nest. The Osprey were quite tolerant of me (I guess I'm not as scary as the Eagle) and the evening lighting worked well. This shot was taken after both birds were chased by the Bald Eagle, forcing one of them to drop its catch.

Nikon D7100 300mm f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/8
1/1250s
ISO 400

Cropped to 5X7, minor adjustments

I like the overall sharpness, great details, and the extended wings of both birds.

I like the detail and pose you caught them in. Nice look at the talons. Looks like nice soft lighting. :toast:

Great catch, Luke. I really like the head turn on the forward Osprey.

Both in sharp focus, no easy task Luke.
Great poses both, really like the head turn to check for adequate clearance too
Well done & have a great weekend :toast:

Nice to get both in light Luke. Good sharpness and I like the head on angle. Did you consider cropping this to only sow the natural part of the nest? Just wondering how it might look?

Super moment in time. I'd consider cropping the very bottom under the nest for a simpler look.
