Layered Textures

This was taken just before sunrise and I remember thinking the colors and the layering created a nice comp. However, the RAW file (below) was less than inspiring so I decided to work on other images from here instead. Finally gave it a go this week and found it worked up better than I thought it would. A bit exaggerated, to be sure, but overall it has the balance that I think I remember . . . maybe.

Your thoughts and suggestions are always appreciated and considered.

You really can work magic with rock and sand. I like the richness of the color and the terrific textures throughout. Very nice work

Hi Tony,

I like the triangular foreground element and the warmth of your edited file. I also like the blue gray in the BG which provides some distance to the vista :toast: ...............................Jim

What a difference "a bit" of skilled processing makes, Tony! The posted view is lovely, warm and inviting with a great collection of subtle colors and fine textures leading my eyes from front to back.

How on earth do you do this? The colors and structures are enhanced a lot if I compare with the RAW, and still it does not look unnatural or weird..... Beats me! The layers of different colors are very nice Tony. Great shot!

Wow.
Lovely, absolutely lovely. Not unreal or surreal at all, to me. Makes you fee like you're right there, in the image.
The depth you brought out in the reminds me of being in Death Valley at sunrise, that same feeling of layer upon layer. Excellent. :toast:

Nicely done on the processing, Tony. The colors look rich and warm but realistic to my eye. Real nice depth to the image, too. Works well.

This is wonderful! I totally agree with Vance's thoughts here. Great comp, beautiful color and I really enjoy the details in the larger version.

Wow, you no doubt pulled an amazing amount of info out of that RAW. I think that is quite a good stroke to show the RAW files occaionally. Those who are just starting out with RAW will  note grasp what is possilbe.

As mentioned, the layering of this images stands out and creates fantastic depth. Well done!
