Scissor-tailed Portrait

I haven't seen many Scissor-tailed Flycatchers on the ground, but I saw this one and couldn't pass it up. I like the detail in the subject. I finally talked myself into shooting at f8 as has been suggested.

As always, thanks in advance for your time in commenting and critiquing.

Good job on the whites -- techs look good and the orange is an eye-grabber -- looks good to me

Everything about the bird is good, color, light and detail. It would make the imge really good if it had a really nice pearch. The low angle works very well for the ground shot.

Superb detail in the plumage, Greg, and I like the nice catchlight.  As you say, an odd place to find it, but it works nicely.

What a beautiful bird this is!! I like the detail in the feathers and the catchlight in the eye. I would have preferred a little more space in front of the bird to look in, but that's always difficult when the bird has a long tail like this one. If you give it more space in front the bird tends to be samller in the frame unless you make it a panorama. So I understand why you made this decision.
