Bordering on almost 'pedestrian/boring' I just quite liked the detail created in the plumage the suratted bill and the 'S' shape of the neck created as the Goose rested it's head.
I'm just restarting an ongoing project that's been running for the last three years, however there is a very samll pond nearby, where Moorhens are nesting and a heron always swings by first thing in the morning, but I've never seen these here before. So whilst waiting for my subject I just took a few frames of this subject who was quite happy to sit & preene.
Thanks for either viewing or commenting on the previous image.

6 commentsExcellent, well-detailed portrait! I'm thinking you could crop a bit off the RHS and still have a comfortable fit. Nothing wrong with it now, it just feels a bit off balance.
"Bordering on almost 'pedestrian/boring' "_Your kidding Steve, of course. Excellent detail, particularly in the head and beak. I find the composition very contemplative and serene. Nicely presented-real fine work IMO.
The angle of the light was perfect for this portrait, Steve. All that subtle detail in the head is awesome.
Steve, my sentiments are as yours. I like the "S" curve in the neck. I like the comp as posted...but looked at Phil's suggestion and moved it off screen to compare and think I still like it as posted better. I think it can work either way.
A nice detailed feather pattern indeed, and an intimate portrait as well ! Well seen and executed ! Cheers, Hans
Hi Philip, hope this is more in-line with your thinking/suggestion, thanks folks.
Cheers
