We were off the beaten path exploring a waterway back into the Cypress Swamp to see if it might come out anywhere interesting when we came across this Anhinga during her drying time moments. The forest canopy shade gave the setting a very nice feel with just enough sun light getting through to illuminate the subject rather nicely. This image was taken vertically to include the reflection and is full frame side to side. Cropped to 8 x 10 format and all off the top, hand held from boat.

The Anhinga's pose is classic and well presented, Mike. My favorite parts are the colors in the log ends and her reflection.
Mike: that's really a stunner. There's great light on the bird which has a very pleasing pose and a wonderful reflecrtion as well. The dark environment serves to highlight the bird. My only very minor nit would be to tone down the bright greenery in the upper portion of the frame. Congrats. Richard
Hi Mike
I have never seen a photograph of an Anhinga before and your is great. The color and reflection make the photo.

I like the environmental feel of this image. A great pose you captured of the anhinga and its reflection. Excellent composition.
A beauty Mike
Nice, Mike. I like the atmosphere and the nice wingspread. I know it's not a conventional format, but I thinkI'd be tampted to take even more off the top-maybe just below the bright green vegetation entering the top of hte frame.
I agree with everyones comments, it's a beauty Mike!
Only suggestion's the lighter green top edge center, a simple clone/brush out would make this even better.
Have a great weekend
Mike, this is gorgeous! When I was growing up bird watching was my first passion and I do enjoy powerful images such as this. I'm still going through your gallery and I like what I see!
