Jefferson Island near New Iberia has become a go-to destination as a well populated rookery in southern Louisiana, having a good variety of these as well as little blues, snowies and cattle egrets. Shot last weekend in morning light. Admittedly the plain blue sky and harsh sunlight wasn't the best, but I liked the pose. Full frame.

3 commentsBill: no need to apologize for this shot, as it really isolates and places all the emphasis on the bird. Very nice pose, techs and perch. Richard
Hi Bill:
The spoonie is really vivid in this image. Nice capture of the colors. Yeah, the plain blue sky doesn't really add to the image, but at least it doesn't distract either! There doesn't appear to be as much feather detail as I'd expect. Wondering if the 2x is the issue??
Lovely colors andit is a nice pose, Bill. I do wish the oof stick weren't in the bg.
