Another one of my favorite macro subjects, dead/old pine trees! This is a focus stack of twelve photos to enhance the abstract nature of the pattern.
100 mm macro, f/11, 1/4 s, ISO 200. Focus stack of 12 photos.
C&C welcome, larger version is included!

10 commentsA beautfiul image, Roel. If this the bark of an old bristlecone pine? They are a favorite of mine, very photogenic but their beauty is not always easy to capture. You did a really fine job with this one, showing their rugged beauty.
Beautiful abstract Roel. I like to shoot weathered wood as well. This one has good composition and nice subtle colors.
Hi Roel,
I like how you framed the swirling pattern of the aged wood. The stack worked well too and it is sharp from corner to corner.......................Jim.
Well seen and photographed for the abstract pattern, Roel. The detail via the stack is superb.
Thanks for the comments everyone! Alberto, this is taken in Sweden, and unfortunately we don't have bristlecones over here. This is a Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). And you are absolutely right about their beauty being very difficult to capture at times.
Nice abstract and amazing swirling lines. The larger view is beautiful.
Roel: Well seen! Terrific textures and I really like the subdued color palette. Very nicely done.>=))>

You've got a fine collection of sweeping lines and warm colors here, Roel. Lovely macro abstract.
I really like the composition. The texture is pretty great too.
