We often have dragonflies in our garden but I don't shoot them all that much. I did go after this guy when he perched on a spent day lily and not on some lame sprinkler head or bare stick. I especially liked the shadow of the wings on the flower tip. Early morning light while flower hunting. All comments welcome. Please see large.>=))>

5 commentsYes, sitting very pretty, Bill. Excellent subject positon. Very nice light on the DF and superb detail in the head, thorax, legs and wings. Well captured.
Very nice image, Bill! I like the colors of the spent daylily and the overal dark and gloomy atmosphere.
Bill, I also like the shadow of the wings. The parallel lines in the spent daylily are beautiful too. Very nice DF image.
Bill, the lighting overall and especially on the df is wonderful. The muted colors in the spent flower work very well with the colors of this df. The larger version really shows off the details in the wings and the legs wonderfully.
'Dark' Vader looks a bit on the mysterious side.. Can a DF be mysterious?
I've rarely seen em' on flowers of any kind, nice catch Bill..
I especially like those forward flung wing veins with shadow cast
