Canon 5D, Mark II. f 6.3, 1/80. I shot about a dozen of these stumps of what looks like eucalyptus trees aong the side of a road. They seem visually compelling and I'm fascinated by their Rorschack like-abstract qualities which I hope I captured.

This is a fascinating image, and the pure black background is sweet in providing contrast and allowing me to concentrate on the stump. This image woks very well in conveying the character of the stump. The large version lets me explore that character of the stump, and some very nice work with this capture.
I agree with Ryan - this is fascinating. The perfect isolation that you have achieved between the stump and the pure black background is hypnotic!
This is very nice, Lucy. Love the isolation of the stump and the black background. There is a small area on the right top of the stump that you may have missed with the brush tool. It is smudged slightly and is pretty visible in the large. Fix that and I reckon you have a winner.
I agree with the other, it's fascinating, original and the beauty is that everyone can see a different picture from one picture.
I like this a lot. It is very much like a sculpture in a gallery, suspended in black as presented. Great tones and textures. Works for me.
Excellent capture Lucy. The black BG gives a "jewelry store" appearance. Large has great detail.
