6 commentsI love the wing position, and you handled the whites very well, Peter. The whole bird seems just a trifle soft which I suspect is a bit of camera shake. 1/1600 with a 600mm can be difficult. On a large bird like this, you're at quite a distance, so the slightest movement of the camera produces a large movement of the image in the frame, requiring higher shutter speeds. If you're shooting a perched song bird at minimal focal distance, you can get away with a surprisingly low shutter speed sometimes.
Excellent exposure of the difficult whites with a great BG, POV, colors, & flight pose Peter.
Good detail as well, perhaps a bit of selective sharpening at the head is all.
Well done!
Looks like you have made an excellent job on the whites of this bird, agree the bird does look a little soft but it must be very difficult taking shots of flying birds with such a big lens, well done.
Keith.
Nice pose, light, and background Peter. Good handling of the whites. Just a bit soft.
Hi
Thanks for you input. I am trying a different export setting.
Peter
sweet. nice colors and habitat, and nice job on the whites. I wish the bird was angled towards you instead of away.
