We encountered this handsome songster last June on our way back to our home base in Nome Alaska. Although these guys are fairly common on the Seward Peninsula the beautiful light at 12:36am was too irresistible to pass by.
Canon MKIV; 600mm & 1.4x tele-converter; 1/500; f8; ISO 1600; manual settings; cleaned up a little mess on the perch, cropped 20% all around

Not at allfamiliar with this one so I cannot really comment on the colours, but it does look a little oversaturated to me, otherwise great image and pose
Sure is glorious light, Ken. Nice pose on the Longspur and a good perch. It's a bit cramped for my taste. I think I'd add a touch top and left to include more of that wonderful sky.
Cool bird with the black mask and red patch there, the chunky body reminds me of the common House Sparrow.
Especailly nice BG, and I like the complimentary striations/colors of this rock perch Ken
Easy to tell it's gorgeous setting sun light. I really like it.
Beautiful bird, light, and photo. Well done! It may be a bit tight for my taste. I'd like to see a bit more room behind and above the bird?
That's some gorgeous light and a great calling pose Ken, a touch tight at the top for me.
Love the midnight light Ken! Excellent shot.

Love it. As you said, you had some outstanding light and caught your suject close in an excellent calling pose. Well done.
