I photographed this african fisheagle in the Selous in Tanzania. I found the fish eagle sitting under a tree with a fish, while its mate was sitting in the tree. On the bottom of the tree were a lot of old weaver's nests and when the fish eagle flew away I saw that he had not only its prey but also a nest on his foot. He flew to a trunk in the lake where he tried to get this bird's nest off its foot. He didn't succeed though and very frustrated he flew away. What happened next, I don't know.

2 commentsA nice catch, Betty-Lou. Very interesting that the weaver nest would get caught like that. You don't mention settings, but with a bright white head like this it's best to expose for the whites or dial in quite a bit of underexposure compensation or you get the blown whites in the top of hte head like you have in this image. It get's pretty difficult in bright light to shoot a high contrast subject like this.
White headed birds and bright light does make life difficult ,I know from the time i have failed, very good advice from Dennis,I do like the story and the whole scene, thanks for giving us a look.
