Dianne and I have thoroughly enjoyed having a family of House Wrens in a birdhouse just outside our kitchen window. These little birds have a loud beautiful song that seranaded us at all hours. The parents diligently built their nest, and came and went to our delight. In time we saw the parents continually coming and going with dinner in their beaks and the last week, there came a cacaphony of chirping notifying the parents they were hungry. We were able to Facetime the birdhouse with the wonderful sounds for our two year old grandson in Boston. This Wren family finally fledged a few days ago and it rained shortly after. This little fellow and about five of his brothers and sisters were caught in the rain. He is sitting on the fence looking up at the rain drops wondering why he left the warm dry nest. "What is this wet stuff that keeps falling on me?" This was an immediate lesson about unpredictability of life.

6 commentsGreat moment captured Patrick, and the story even better. I'll bet you grandson loved the the Facetime experience-must a been a wonderfully shared experience.
Patrick: great story and a well executed effort. It's verypleasing how the bird is place against the lighter area of the b/g. The collected rain drops and the falling rain add to the image. Richard
I love the expression, Patrick. The rain is a very nice added touch.
Sweet bird and story. I love it when a photograph tells a story! In my book, this puts this little wren in the rain depiction ahead of all the BOAS photos.
Hi Patrick,
I like this one a lot. Cute wren, wonderful lighting, and visible rain drops sets the scene. Well done...........................Jim
