Birds were lining up to get to a seed feeder at one of the lodges we stay at on the Garden Route in South Africa. This little Common Waxbill was wedged between 2 Forest Canaries trying to get to the feeder. I cloned out another partial bird.

7 commentsI know there is a bird story here somewhere. The lean and head tilt of the Waxbill just speaks volumes. Great slice of bird life photo. The pano crop works well for this. In fact, you could have chopped even more off the top!
Nice, Nate. I like the relative poses and the sweet bg.
Nate if the one on the left had decided to look at the Waxbill it would have been iceing on the cake but still very nice as presented, lovely clean BG.
Keith.
Nicely balanced, Nate.
Very nice capture of these three together Nate, great poses and excellent details. Looks like the canary on the right is trying cut in line and the waxbill is not co-operating.
Sweet One
Nate: all around fine shot of behavior as well as details in the birds. Looks like the canary on the right is none too pleased with the waxbill's presence. I perceive him to be saying "yea, I'm talkin' to you!" Richard
Very cool comp Nate...a Waxbill sandwich I guess? Of course if the left Canary would have just cooperated more and had an open beak toward the Waxbill also, this would have been off the charts...but still a very good image. Nice work!
