I keep going back to this one spot in Great Falls on the MD side in search of a specific look. This is getting closer but still want a bit something more in the sky - not nuclear per se but more to fill the frame. your thoughts are apprecited.

7 commentsThat's a spot worth working, Navin. I like the FG rock and its lines leading into the frame and the gap in the MG rocks. I'd like to see a little more color saturation in the reflection in the pool as it has a muddy feel to it where the rocks and parts of the sky have acquired a greenish tint. That's probably realistic I realize but I wouldn't be adverse to some "enhancing."
This sure isn't bad. Nice textures and decent color, especially the sky. It would be nice to have more color in the rocks, and the right sky might give you that.
Nice image. Well seen and the colors are fine just the way they are. Don't change a thing.
Sweet spot, Navin. I think I would like to see a slightly wider view that takes in the whole pool. It seems a little tight on the sides, but other than that it's very nice. I agree with Tony that a little more color would be ideal, but it's nice to know that you found the shot, now the conditions have to be just right. I'm sure if you are patient that will definately happen.
Know the area well, Navin and this is indeed a spot with lots of potential. I like the quiteness that you've captured here. The gentle light on the clouds in the sky and their reflections adds very nicely to that quietness. I'm thinking that a horizontal view might emphasize the sense of peace. The perfection in the reflection fits very well here.
I think you already have a great sky in this one, more toned down and not in your face. I think I would crop the darker and lowest part of the rocks (approx. across your signature), to give a bit more homogenous rock part at the bottom, giving this image even more of a relaxing atmosphere. Well done!
Thanks, all! Agree that this is too tight of a crop into the pool. The wider views diminish strong shapes and lines, though I can mitigate that with some tactful transforming. For the time being, I went with a vingette to ease the burden on the edges.
