Spent a nice peaceful hour or so in our garden this morning and finished my session with this little beauty. She lives right out the front door so I just sat on the steps and played around with different comps and lighting conditions as some nice fluffy clouds meandered across the sky. I rarely use tubes on zoom lenses but thought I would experiment with my big lens since the AF on it is so fast and sure on my A77. It was less of a pain in the butt than I have experienced in the past so if it works I might save myself some weight when traveling by not having to tote a macro lens. Kind of a standard comp from me but these flowers are so elegant that I can't resist. All comments welcome.>=))>

6 commentsGreat lines and a classic comp, Bill. The colors are excellent. I wonder about a bit of color in the top left corner, but it is a great photo as is. I admire your proficiency with these day lily blooms.

Bill - Pastel shades in this Lily and a slightly different composition showing only the top half (near about) that works for me.
Show us more of your Daylily work !
Gorgeous definition and colors, Bill. I'd say that the trick worked, but don't leave the macro lens behind! I've done it and come to regret it
And I hope that you are doing fine with the weather, I saw some really horrible images coming out of Houston today
Well done, Bill. A beautiful Day Lily!
Lovely pastel colors and beautiful curving lines. Nicely done, Bill!
An unusually high cut off point perhaps, Bill, and one which works fine for me in emphasising the thrust of the stamens. Superb capture of the petals and flower centre
