Rob - The flower seems to be in great shape, so that makes it very pleasing to begin with. Your intent of capturing the reflection is also a success. I would have loved to see at least the center of the flower reflected but not a biggie.

This is a nice clean shot of a columbine. The reflection is a great extra. How about trying it again with water so there are ripples in the reflection? From the small image I assumed it was leaning over water and was expecting those ripples. Regardless, technically sound, artistically done and pleasing to view. I'm enjoying your images... keep them coming!

Rob: Wonderfully conceived and superbly executed. Is the reflective surface a mirror? I'm suspecting it is but am a little puzzled by the relative darkness of the reflection. One would expect that from water reflections. Perhaps it is the angle of the lighting. If I was going to pick a nit it would be the clipped center on the reflected subject. Moving everything up in the frame seems like the obvious remedy. Still a well thought out and crafted image. >=))>

Nice studio work. Well thought out and executed. Reflection is good, but they are notoriously hard to get right as to the amount of it to show. To me, this is about right.

The flower was shot on black arylic perspex, which you can buy on-line. It gives a very good reflection, but as you said is much darker than a normal mirror surface. This is a very similar product (in UK), which you can buy quite cheaply http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Colour-Perspex-Acrylic-Sheet-Plastic-Material-Panel-Cut-to-Size-A5-A4-A3-/201121042564?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=500289861497&hash=item2ed3bf9084
