I think this is the same Pied-billed Grebe I posted trying to swallow a crab, but I'm not positive as I was distracted by other subjects between that sequence and this.
5Dii, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f/5.6, 1/1600, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, no compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. I added managed to get pretty cockeyed on this one, so I had to do a fair amount of rotation, then I added some canvas on the right and cropped some from boththe top and bottom for the pano view. Taken 9:16 am, February 24th at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas.
Comments and criticisms are really appreciated.
Thanks for looking,

4 commentsThe pose is a killer ! Wished for less reflection on the water however, to attract even more attention to the Grebe. That said, a fine image indeed ! best, hans
A hard to catch image of the grebe just prior to diving. The position and placement of the legs for the Pied Billed Grebe reveal a view of the bird seldom seen and even less photographed. Thanks for adding a bit of knowledge!
Now I can't get the "Hokey-Pokey" song out of my head. ("You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out"). Good capture. The reflections around the head a distracting, but you got everything the bird gave you.
I really like this pose with 'the stretch' thing goin' on, great detail/DOF Dennis.
The pano works well, nice one
