Common Gallinule

I think that's what Phil called his post a few days back.  Darn name changers.  Another from the very prolific Leonabelle Turnbull birding Center.  Most of hte shots I had of these were against the weeds, so I liked the fact that a good share of the bird was framed by the water in this one.

7Dii 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, handheld, f/8, 1/2000, iso 1250, aperture priority, center weighted average metering, no compensation.

Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped mostly from the right and top to 16.2MP.  Taken at 8:09 am on February 22nd.

Please view larger image for critical detail.

Your comments and criticisms are very welcome.

Thanks for looking,

Nice one Dennis. Good details with the color. I have seen some considerable variation in the shades of gray and brown that these waterfowl come in.

Hi Dennis, nice control of the Blacks & Whites and from the image, it looks that the overcast conditions have worked in your favour. I might have liked a little more body turn to camera rather than away, but hey... Personally I might selectively lift the eye a wee faction just for defintion against the head, if you know what I mean. I would also remove the 'stone?' in the water towards the foot of the image.

Nice position of the bird in the frame Dennis. I like the overall feel of this. I might lighten the shadows a bit more, especially on the head around the eye to help it stand out a bit more.
