A Giraffe and her calf silhouetted at sunrise on the open plains of the Mara North Conservancy in Kenya captured during one of the photo safaris I led this past June. We were on our way to the main reserve for a full day when we saw these beautiful animals on the horizon. Had to stop . . .

19 commentsThe lighting in the sky is wonderful, Mario, with the giraffe silhouettes completing the story and setting the location.
The sky and baby giraffe make this shot IMHO. Well done as always.
Mario: the background alone was worth a shot. Having the pair of giraffes in it makes it exceptional. Richard
Wonderfully simple, Mario.
Love the colors and graphical quality of this image.
The angles of light and your signature use of color make this a genuine grabber. Great composition, too!
Hey Mario,
Just beautiful.
Cheers...

Mario, the varied pastel tones in the sky are lovely. I think they give the "African silhouettescape" a totally different look.

Very striking... Amazing back ground to compliment the Giraffe with silhouettes. Its a wall hanger!!!
Lovely Mario. Love the diagonals rays of lights. The giraffe's face gazing into the frame adds a lot of interest.
Cheers,
Hisham.
Wow. Just lovely. I liked it more the more I looked at it. Some terrific details like the eyelashes on the mother giraffe.

The rays in the lightly colored sky make a great backdrop for their silhouettes.
