Pursuit

I ended up with quite a few frames of the pursuit, but I liked this one best because of the wing position and clear look at the eye of the pursuer.

7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/7.1, 1/4000, iso 500, manual exposure.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 15.5 MP from the left and bottom.  Taken July 1st, still at 9:55 am about 6 seconds after the last shot.

I always look forward to your comments and critiques-keep them coming.

Thanks,

I like this better than the previous image, Dennis. The action is  framed nicely by the mountains and the eye contact and head turn of the adult bird is captivating. The bit of debris trailing the right wing of the adult could be discarded if one was inclined, it would keep the focus on the adults head and eye and the pending action ahead. It's ok the way it is, my preference would be, leave it in. It connects back to the Juvenile. It'll make a nice large print or canvas. Cool shot!

For me, I think I'd lean towards the first one.  I do like the wing position of both eagles in this shot.  The head of the pursuing eagle is better shown here, but the other eagle's head is not as clear as in the first shot.  Also, the head turn of the pursuing eagle suggests a bit of indifference, whereas in the first shot it was clearly intent on its prey.  I liked the background in the first as I liked how it set the environmental scene.  There's a bit of something just below the wings of the pursuing eagle I might consider cloning out.

The action here is great, Dennis, a fine catch with the distant mountains adding a fine extra touch.  In addition to what you like, I think that the juvy's open beak is a fine addition, looks like it's yelling about being chased.

I'm with Mark, I can hear the juvie squawkin' from heresad

I like the comp that includes the mtns outline bottom, it anchors the shot nicely.

I'd remove the debris under the adult, my only nit.

Well done!!devil

Dennis, I prefer the this one to the first. The action looks intense and the juvie is definatley voicing it's displeasure. I would vote for removeing the falling debris from the sky. It does not add to the image. I think the hint of mountains in the bg does add greatly to this shot. Nice work!

The pose on the adult bird is great Dennis, love the top side view, With 2 birds like this I would probably trade a bit of shutter speed for more depth of field but they both look pretty sharp in this case.  devil

I like this one better Dennis because of the positon of the birds...mostly their heads and eyes. You did a nice job of framing this.
